About the Send To CaseMap tool

You can send facts from many popular office and litigation programs directly to CaseMap. When data is sent to CaseMap from other programs, CaseMap automatically links to the native source file or application record containing the information. You can link to a file regardless of the source type: a document management system, a web site, or a file hosted on a network folder. You can also scan the text to recognize case objects embedded in the text, and either create new objects or match them to objects already existing in the case.

Send data to CaseMap in the following ways:

Send facts from Concordance® or other document management systems
Send transcript excerpts from TextMap® or other transcript software
Send PDFs and facts from documents open in Adobe® Acrobat or Adobe Reader
Send facts from Microsoft® Outlook® emails
Send facts and documents from Microsoft® Word®
Add case law research from Lexis Advance or other web sites

Process overview

The process of sending data to CaseMap is very similar in most programs. For example, here is the process for sending a fact to CaseMap from Adobe Acrobat:

1.Open the case you want to send facts to in CaseMap.
2.Open the PDF document in Adobe Acrobat. In Acrobat, you may have to turn on the select tool so you can select text.
3.Select fact text you want to send to CaseMap.
4.Right-click the text selection and click Send Fact to CaseMap.
5.CaseMap prompts you to register the document, then allows you to recognize objects. CaseMap's entity recognition for fact entry simplifies and reduces time to add facts to your case. Objects sent to CaseMap from PDFs and Word documents are automatically identified and updated for Persons, Places and Organizations. See About About Object Recognition for Fact Entry for more information.
6.Once you have sent the data to the case, you can immediately view it in the CaseMap spreadsheet selected. You can also review the original source file by double-clicking on the paperclip icon/linked file indicator associated with the case record. New data can be searched as soon as the indexing process completes.
