Private Trust Companies (PTCs) provide a welcome solution to high net worth families who wish create an institutionalized structure for trust and fiduciary services. PTCs offer families the ability to maintain control of the family’s estate planning while providing a formal architecture that serves the business of the family's estate planning. However, regulatory oversight presents a threat to the continued growth of PTCs.
