LNUK Supports JUSTICE

When we look at how we carry out our Rule of Law strategy in the UK (and around the world), we have two key routes to achieve our aims:

  • how can we use the assets we have as a business?
  • who can we partner with that will advance our goals?

With our thoughts firmly in this second camp, we had the pleasure recently to support a dinner hosted by JUSTICE for their JUSTICE60 campaign.

What is JUSTICE?

JUSTICE is an all-party law reform and human rights organisation working to strengthen the justice system in the UK.  It lobbies for a fair, accessible and efficient legal processes, in which the individual's rights are protected.  JUSTICE was established in 1957, and has been at the forefront of law reform for almost six decades, during which time is has advocated for a number of developments and protections to justice, human rights and the rule of law which have later been enacted into law.

They are now the leading independent experts on the UK justice system and no other civil society organisation is better placed to work within the UK’s legal processes.  As such, they fit perfectly with us as a partner to support our overriding purpose of advancing the Rule of Law.

The JUSTICE60 Campaign

JUSTICE is a charity and, therefore, funding and fundraising is critical to its ability to pursue its mission.  It recently launched the JUSTICE60 appeal, with a target of raising £2 million by its 60th anniversary in 2017.  The aim of the appeal is to raise sufficient resources to ensure JUSTICE’s programmes are sustainable and to help it work towards securing justice for another 60 years.

We were delighted to support the launch dinner of JUSTICE60 at Inner Temple Hall, acting as the headline sponsor.  In a room of senior partners from across the City, numerous barristers and judges from all levels of the courts (including the Lord Chief Justice – the head of the courts), LexisNexis was again able to demonstrate our own purpose and support for the Rule of Law.

Marc Peter, LNUK Sales and Marketing Director, together with Gerry Duff , Mark Smith and Neil Smith, all attended and had the opportunity to promote the various LN Rule of Law initiatives and network with the guests on what was a very busy night.  Marc also shared the floor with the Lord Chief Justice, giving a speech which highlighted LexisNexis’s commitment to the Rule of Law.

JUSTICE for the future

This is the beginning of our relationship with JUSTICE, and we will continue to work closely with them to identify initiatives on which we can bring our combined resources and skills to bear.

It is through working with organisations of this calibre, who have a reach into the legal profession which is almost unparalleled, that we can both have the greatest impact in advancing our ambitions but also spread the word throughout the legal market as to one of the ways in which LexisNexis truly stands out from its peers!
