About OCR processing

After files are imported into a case and a case index is created, TextMap performs OCR (optical character recognition) processing on image files so that the text content can be indexed for full-text searching. TextMap runs the OCR process in the background. You can continue working in the case but should to wait to search data or annotate files until processing completes and the case is updated with the latest information.

TextMap OCR processes imported files one at a time until all files in the queue succeed. Once OCR processing completes, TextMap will update the case index.

You can easily check the case's OCR status by placing your cursor over the OCR icon XM_OCR_icon_enabled in the lower right corner of TextMap. An OCR is idle message displays on the status bar when no files are in queue for OCR processing. You can disable OCR processing on your computer. Other case user's computers that have OCR enabled will process imported files and update the case for you.
