The Union International des Avocats (UIA) and LexisNexis celebrated their new partnership in the presence of Jean-Jacques Uetwiller, President of the IAL and Guillaume Deroubaix, LexisNexis Managing Director for international development in Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The partnership falls within the common will of LexisNexis and the UIA, an international association of lawyers and legal professionals, to further the access to legal information and solutions, and to defend the Law and fundamental principles of the legal profession around the world.

“This partnership is an important step in the diffusion of legal culture and marks the willingness of both parties to work together in order to ensure the access of all to knowledge. It is also a reassertion of the opening of the UIA to all legal actors. Particularly, the UIA is proud to engage with one of the leading player of legal information dissemination in the world”, stated Jean-Jacques Uettwiller, President of the UIA.

Among the established engagements, LexisNexis will actively participate in seminars organized by the UIA and in its annual Congress, to be held this year in Budapest from 28 October to 1st November 2016, as well as the creation of the “Fondation Initiative” aimed at supporting Universities and promoting initiatives of, in particular, professionals and students of the Middle East-Africa area.

Moreover, the UIA and LexisNexis will jointly award an annual Prize to recognize an individual or a legal entity for their outstanding contributions to advance the Rule of Law within the legal community.

With this agreement, LexisNexis will engage with the UIA on various initiatives including support for the international association in the organization of several events each year, and by publishing “Juriste international” which is distributed worldwide.

I am delighted with this agreement which marks the engagement of LexisNexis to support the remarkable work undertaken by the UIA for years in the defense of the Law and lawyers across the world,” concluded Philippe Carillon, CEO LexisNexis Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa.
