Since becoming a partner at Shihui Partners, Jeff Liu has specialized in cross-border M&A, private equity/venture capital, commercial transactions, general corporate law and corporate compliance. He has expanded the firm's cross-border practice by establishing and currently leading a new practice area at Shihui Partners advising Chinese clients on outbound cross-border transactions, including M&A, commercial and licensing transactions. Additionally, he established a new client relationship with Dishang, a multi-billion dollar clothing manufacturer, expanding services from general corporate matters and M&A to encompass capital markets,  litigation and compliance. Jeff has also developed a relationship with Bytedance, focusing on emerging practice areas like data privacy.

Jeff was also temporarily seconded to a leading European pharmaceutical company as its s China Data Privacy Officer to oversee data privacy compliance for the entirety of the company’s China operations, which includes 6,000+ employees, 5 regional hubs, and a global R&D center. In this role, he leveraged his practice area expertise and client experience in stakeholder management, project management, and problem-solving for a practical, balanced approach to managing data privacy compliance for its commercial, research and corporate activities.

Jeff actively participates in key industry events to stay abreast of the latest trends. He participated in a joint conference between Shihui Partners and the China Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Law, focusing on the EU AI Act and its implications for the AI industry. He also organized multiple seminars to promote the exchange and development of legal technology use in law firms, in house legal departments and more broadly within the legal profession. Additionally, Jeff has participated in a number of closed-door meetings with leading industry players and professional in the Chinese t life sciences and pharmaceutical space on the development of the healthcare sector in China.

Jeff continues to expand his expertise to meet the evolving needs of the firm's diverse client base. He is a proactive legal technology user, finding ways to use legal technology to improve quality and efficiency in his legal work to deliver high value legal services to his clients.. He is committed to continuing to develop his legal and professional knowledge in new practice areas, including recently completing the IAPP European Data Protection training course to strengthen his expertise in data privacy.
