Free Webinar Thurs. Aug. 2nd: ICE Prosecutorial Discretion, Immigration Court Filings and Closure

August 01, 2012 (1 min read)

TRAC, Aug. 1, 2012: "A free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, August 2 at 2:00pm (Eastern US time) to present and discuss how the exercise of prosecutorial discretion by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has impacted the filing and closing of cases in the Immigration Courts. The webinar will highlight the very latest trends based upon TRAC's analysis of court records updated through the end of June 2012.

In addition, the seminar will cover in detail the continuing rise in the Immigration Court backlog and court wait times, despite the observed decline in deportation filings by ICE as reported last week by TRAC. Those locations and nationalities for which ICE activity has increased counter to this trend will also be featured.

The session will show how to directly access details specific to the state and hearing location, as well as nationality, using TRAC's array of free web-based tools. The session will also demonstrate how to further drill into this information by charge and type of disposition -- whether deportation was ordered, relief granted, or PD closure, etc.

The webinar will close with a question and answer period.
