Felons, Families and Prosecutorial Discretion - Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia

January 05, 2015 (1 min read)

"On November 20, 2014, President Obama announced a series of executive actions on immigration aimed at reducing deportations for people who present positive equities such as a close family relationship or long term residence in the US. In announcing these actions, the President used the phrase "families not felons" to explain his plan to prioritize immigration enforcement against some groups over others. This commentary describes the ingredients of and relationship between two programs announced by the president—the Deferred Action for Parental Accountability Program and Revised Enforcement Priorities." - Prof. Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia, Jan. 2, 2015.
