"A spokesman with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said a review would be conducted on raids carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers recently targeting [unauthorized] immigrants in Fort Payne and Collinsville. "The Department of Homeland Security has directed ICE to review the operation to determine whether or not it fit within the agency's enforcement priorities," said DHS spokesman Matthew Chandler through an emailed written statement Friday night. "DHS has also directed its officer for civil rights and civil liberties to review the allegations of civil rights violations associated with this operation." Officials with the Southern Poverty Law Center brought to light the raids Friday when it claimed ICE agents entered homes without permission and terrorized families and interrogated young children about the whereabouts of their parents." - Times-Journal, Dec. 19, 2011.
