ABA President: More Lawyers Needed for Central American Refugee Children (Q&A)

August 04, 2014 (1 min read)

"James Silkenat, president of the American Bar Association, said this week that the legal issues facing migrant children in Texas from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala are huge.  Silkenat, a New York corporate attorney, took a small team of lawyers and an interpreter to visit children and a federal immigration court in San Antonio.  The American Bar Association is a sponsor of the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project, or ProBAR, a legal agency in Harlingen swamped with juvenile cases.  Silkenat spoke with The Dallas Morning News about his visit with the children." - Dianne Solís, Dallas Morning News, Aug. 1, 2014.
