"A Facebook post states, "Revolutionary Green Card Program Approved!" and encourages users to follow a link for more information. The publication implies that the process is different depending on the age of the person. The post was flagged as part of Meta's effort to combat fake news and misinformation on its platform. (Read more about our collaboration with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.) The term "green card" (Tarjeta Verde in Spanish) refers to the Permanent Resident Card, which legally allows you to live and work permanently in the United States. The Facebook post leads to a web page containing information on visa requirements, how to contact lawyers, among other options. But a new program to obtain permanent residence has not been approved…...PolitiFact ... spoke to ... law professors about it. "There is no new program that makes the process of obtaining a green card easier and only USCIS and the Department of State can issue the cards," confirmed Stephen Yale-Loehr, Immigration law professor at Cornell University."
