The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed critical vulnerabilities across American society. Among the hardest-hit industries has been the U.S. healthcare system, which was already hemorrhaging workers in all practice areas for years prior to the pandemic. Nearly 20% of America’s health care workers have left the field during the crisis, and even more, say they are considering doing so soon.
It is a situation so dire that the American Hospital Association calls it a "national emergency"
