IL Lawmakers Approve Bill Lifting Moratorium on Nuclear Power Plants: The Illinois General Assembly passed legislation (HB 2437) that, as amended, will lift a nearly four-decades-old moratorium on new nuclear power plants, opening the door for cutting-edge small, modular reactors and potentially allowing the state to meets its goal of using only carbon-free electricity by 2045. AL Lawmakers to Consider Restricting Underage Access to Porn Sites: Alabama Rep. Ben Robbins (R) plans to introduce a bill next year that would require pornographic websites to verify users are at least 18 years old before granting them access to their content. The bill, which hasn’t been prefiled yet, would also require providers of such online content to register with the state. Louisiana, Texas, and Utah have enacted similar laws, but they’ve been blocked by lawsuits filed by the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association representing the adult entertainment industry.
