Legal professionals who saw first-hand the extraordinary capability of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) to engage in human-like conversations quickly surmised the possible impact on the practice of law. One of the first areas that many of them dreamed about was the onerous process of drafting legal documents.
Our research indicates that 79% of attorneys identify legal drafting as one of the most time-consuming aspects of their practice, and that roughly half of attorneys spend 50% or more of their time each week on drafting.
In fact, when we surveyed lawyers in various countries about the specific areas where they perceived the most potential to use Gen AI in their work, 56% cited the drafting of legal documents as a key use case, the second most popular response (behind legal research).
Our team set out to build a product that would fulfill those needs. The development goal at LexisNexis was ambitious: create a tool that enhances the speed, quality and consistency of legal work for every legal professional in the world by providing a comprehensive, intelligent legal drafting solution that leverages Gen AI capabilities and flexible DMS integration, accessible within Microsoft 365.
