Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) continues to be a pervasive area of focus globally. Governmental organizations and regulatory authorities continue to shape ESG policies, frameworks, and rules. In April 2022, the UK became the first G20 country to mandate climate-related risks and opportunities disclosures aligned with Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures requirements. Similarly, in March 2022, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposed rules that would, for the first time, require certain climate-related disclosures in registration statements and annual reports, and in April 2022 brought its first ESG enforcement action.
