LexisNexis Stands With The People of Ukraine

By Mike Walsh | CEO, LexisNexis Legal & Professional

As a global business, we join the world in watching in horror as the war in Ukraine unfolds. LexisNexis Legal & Professional (LNLP) strongly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I’d like to acknowledge our people working in Ukraine and our employees around the world who have family and friends there. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and are providing them our full support.

Together with RELX and its divisions we're donating to humanitarian relief efforts to support Ukraine. The escalating situation in Ukraine is placing millions of children and their families in immediate danger. We're supporting aid organizations working across Ukraine to scale up life-saving programs, including trucking safe water to conflict-affected areas, providing health and emergency education supplies as close as possible to communities near the line of contact, providing psychosocial care, and working with municipalities to ensure there is immediate help for children and families in need.

The war in Ukraine is a clear violation of international law and the rule of law. Many of our products, solutions, and efforts through the LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation are focused on helping citizens and strengthening legal infrastructures in the Ukraine and around the world. For example:

  • Nexis Diligence is providing updated sanctions data to our customers so they can stay informed, take ethical action, and protect their business
  • Law360 is providing free access to their coverage of the War in Ukraine
  • Through the first-of-its-kind LexisNexis Rule of Law Monitor, we’re continuously tracking public sentiment on the rule of law in 170 countries to create greater worldwide transparency and raise real-time awareness of rule of law issues. LexisNexis Ukrainian tracking has found that most of the world’s population (67%) now disapprove of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This rises to 76% of the world’s population outside of Asia. Even in Russia, our tracking finds that less than half of the Russian population approve of their country’s military action in the Ukraine
  • The eyeWitness to Atrocities App is a free mobile app that’s enabling Ukrainian citizens to document potential evidence of war crimes using their smartphones
  • We are helping the Ukraine Advice Project UK, which provides free UK immigration and asylum advice for Ukrainians and their families from qualified lawyers by ensuring that materials used by their volunteer lawyers are up to date and accurate
  • The Human RightsApp, developed by LexisNexis and the Australian Human Rights Commission, is a free mobile app providing access to all international human rights law instruments. It’s searchable by theme and instrument name to support individuals in understanding their rights
  • LexisNexis and the LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation are joining together with the International Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Union Internationale de Avocats to condemn Russia’s attack on Ukraine
  • Across the globe, we’re providing our customers with up-to-the-minute information and practical guidance on immigration law, cybersecurity preparedness, news analysis on the impact of the conflict on financial transactions, impacts of Russian sanctions on risk, compliance, and international arbitration, as well as tools and content to support contracts with suppliers in the region

We are also supporting our colleagues based in Russia, who continue to work under challenging circumstances that they did not create. With a limited footprint in Russia, we’re complying with all sanctions.

We will continue to do everything possible to support our colleagues, the people of Ukraine, and our customers, and our hearts are with all of those impacted by this humanitarian crisis.
