Knowledge & Research Consultant Tip: Sort Results in TOC Order on Lexis+ ®

As a researcher, I often go to a source I am familiar with to view and search the Table of Contents (TOC). Recently, the Lexis+® service added a Sort by TOC option, too. Now when I run a full-text search in a source that has a TOC on Lexis+, I can use the Sort by menu to select TOC order. I find this incredibly helpful because it shows the occurrences of my search terms in the order in which they are found in the source—as if I were paging through a book. This provides context to help me understand the organization of results.

Give it a try the next time you search in a source with a TOC on Lexis+, and see what you think!

Please note that in order for the Sort by TOC option to be available, the search has to be initially performed in a source with a TOC. The Sort by TOC option will not be available if a search is performed and then narrowed to a source with a TOC.
