Librarian Relations Consultant Research Tip: Finding segments by content type using the new Lexis Advance home page
Segment searching has always been a useful precision search tool for librarians and other advanced researchers using Lexis Advance. However, one doesn’t always know what segments are available for a particular content set. Use Advanced Search to quickly locate segments by content type.
First, open up MORE OPTIONS (if not already open)
![](/community/resized-image/__size/600x0/__key/communityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles/00-00-00-00-67/0118.lrc1.jpg)
Then click the Advanced Search link.
![](/community/resized-image/__size/600x0/__key/communityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles/00-00-00-00-67/1104.lrc2.jpg)
The template that comes up is the generic one for searching everything, but now you can either click the “Select a specific content type” link …
![](/community/resized-image/__size/600x0/__key/communityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles/00-00-00-00-67/3443.lrc3.jpg)
and choose the appropriate content category …
![](/community/resized-image/__size/600x0/__key/communityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles/00-00-00-00-67/6013.lrc4.jpg)
OR scroll down below the template and choose a content category.
![](/community/resized-image/__size/600x0/__key/communityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles/00-00-00-00-67/lrc5.jpg)
Once selected, the search template will open with the relevant segments for searching that content category.
