The Continued Validity of HHS’s COVID-19 Stark Law Waivers
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) extended the Coronavirus (COVID-19) federal public health emergency on July 15, 2022. Rely on the newest practice note from Practical Guidance Healthcare to understand and apply these 18 blanket waivers overriding the federal Physician Self-Referral (Stark) Law’s prohibitions on physician referrals, which waivers were intended to increase beneficiary access to medical services and to ensure reimbursement of healthcare providers who provide services during the pandemic.
