- Federal: The NLRB holds that an employer violated the National Labor Relations Act when it discharged an employee for refusing to remove the hand-drawn letters "BLM"—the acronym for Black Lives Matter—from their work apron, finding that the employee's refusal to remove the BLM marking was a protected concerted activity under Section 7 of the NLRA. See Home Depot USA, Inc., 373 NLRB No. 25(Feb. 21, 2024).
- Florida: The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirms an injunction against parts of Florida's Individual Freedom Act (also referred to as the Stop WOKE Act), which limits the topics an employer can cover when conducting diversity training. The court holds that the law’s content- and viewpoint-based speech restrictions violate the First Amendment. See com Inc. v. Governor, 2024 U.S. App. LEXIS 5193 (11th Cir. Mar. 4, 2024).
- Missouri: Kansas City amends its antidiscrimination ordinance to require employers with six or more employees to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified employees for known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. See Kansas City Ordinance No. 240082.
