- Federal: The U.S. Supreme Court finds that a transportation worker does not need to work for a company in the transportation industry to be exempt from coverage under the Federal Arbitration Act, and that the Second Circuit erred in compelling arbitration on the basis that the petitioners in a wage-and-hour lawsuit worked in the bakery industry. See Bissonnette v. Lepage Bakeries Park St., LLC, 2024 U.S. LEXIS 1576 (Apr. 12, 2024).
- Florida: Florida amends its child labor laws to relax restrictions on work hours and break periods for 16- and 17-year-olds. See 2024 Fla. HB 49.
- Idaho: Idaho provides that employers shall be immune from civil liability for adopting a policy that allows or does not prohibit the lawful carrying of a firearm on an employee’s person on the business premises. This extends the existing immunity for employers that adopt a policy that allows or does not prohibit the lawful storage of firearms by employees in their vehicles. See 2024 Ida. SB 1275.
