Energy Companies Face Re-Regulation on Environmental Matters Under the Biden Administration
Since the early days of the Obama Administration, there has been a dramatic back-and-forth shift in environmental regulation as it affects energy companies. The Obama Administration instituted new and more strict environmental regulations, many of which the Trump Administration reversed. Indeed, the Trump Administration used environmental deregulation as a campaign pledge. Once President Biden came into office in 2021, this push toward deregulation was immediately reversed. Obama-era regulations were reinstituted or even stricter regulations were put into place. The Energy and Climate Change Policies and Regulations Tracker linked below follows every major Biden Administration effort at re-instituting far-reaching environmental regulations as they affect energy companies. Helping your clients understand these new regulations is crucial to staying compliant and competitive in a quickly changing regulatory environment.
