Consumer Financial Regulatory Issues in the Student Lending Market
Many student loan borrowers received payment relief on federal student loan payments since the start of the pandemic in 2020. Most recently, the moratorium on federal student loan payments was extended to September 2022. As the student lending market is poised to undergo changes in the coming year stemming from the review of student loan practices and loan forgiveness, it is important to gain an understanding of the federal consumer financial regulatory framework that governs private education lending and loan servicing activities.
