- Federal: The U.S. Supreme Court resolves a circuit split and holds that federal courts do not have discretion to dismiss a case when the dispute is subject to arbitration and a party requests a stay pending arbitration. See Smith v. Spizzirri, 2024 U.S. LEXIS 2170 (May 16, 2024).
- Maryland: Maryland amends its state Fair Employment Practices Act to prohibit discrimination based on military status. See 2024 Md. HB 598.
- New Jersey: The New Jersey Supreme Court holds that amendments to the state’s Wage Payment Law and Wage and Hour Law that added enhanced damages and extended the statute of limitations must be applied prospectively to conduct that occurred on or after August 6, 2019, not retroactively to conduct that occurred before that date.
