Obama to Give Immigration Speech Today

"Now it's President Obama's turn to talk immigration.  In a speech on Tuesday, Obama is expected to praise the blueprint offered Monday by a bipartisan group of senators, while re-affirming the plan he put up in 2011 and calling for continuing negotiations in both the Senate and the House.  "The president believes it is very important that we move forward on comprehensive immigration reform," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.  "It's the right thing to do for the country, for our economy."  White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer tweeted that Obama "will applaud the bipartisan Senate agreement that is (very) consistent with his long held view and lay out his vision for (immigration) reform."  Obama flies to Las Vegas for the speech at Del Sol High School; it is scheduled to begin at 2:55 p.m., ET." - USA Today, Jan. 29, 2013.
