Widow Of Man Killed After Being Rear-Ended By Commercial Box Truck Settles With Truck Driver's Employer For $ 5,850,000 In Illinois State Negligence Action
On May 29, 2015 around 11:24 a.m., an employee of MedPro Waste Disposal, LLC, Frank M. Contacessi, was driving a 2013 Isuzu NPR Commercial Box Truck northbound on Illinois Route 23 North of Ottawa. The MedPro driver failed to stop and slammed into the back of a 2001 Buick LeSabre driven by 61-year-old William Krug, who was waiting to make a left hand turn into the family farm. He was pronounced dead at the scene, survived by his wife, a daughter, and a son.
Plaintiff Kallie Krug, executrix of William Krug's estate, filed a wrongful death action against MedPro and Contacessi on May 9, 2015. The action was filed in the Circuit Court for LaSalle County, 13th Judicial Circuit, IL, and assigned to Judge Eugene P. Daugherity. The parties reached a settlement on June 15, 2017, in the amount of $ 5,850,000.
