Installing Sanction

The Sanction client application is installed to the Microsoft Windows desktop of any Sanction user.

Sanction installs as an unregistered trial copy. There is a 30-day grace period to use Sanction. Once the grace period expires, Sanction will no longer function. The unregistered copy of Sanction works identically to the registered version. If you are reinstalling over a registered version of Sanction, you will not need to re-register.

Sanction client installation review:

You must be logged in with Administrator rights to install the Sanction application.
Sanction must be installed to a local hard drive and cannot be run from a network share or server.
Prerequisites (third-party software) will be downloaded and installed if they are not available; an Internet connection is required.
Microsoft Expression Encoder can optionally be installed. This is required for the Media Clip export feature.

1.Double-click the Sanction 5.0.exe icon to launch the Sanction Install utility.
You may be prompted to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 (Web Installer). If this happens, it is highly recommended that you close all other programs before continuing the installation process. After other programs are closed, click Install.
This will start the download and installation process by Microsoft. You will be guided through the .NET Framework installation. At the end of the install process of .NET Framework, you will be prompted to restart your computer. After you restart and log in to your computer, the Sanction installer will continue automatically.
2.When the InstallShield Wizard launches, click Next.
3.In the License Agreement dialog box, review the terms of the license agreement. Click Print if you want to print a copy of the license agreement.
4.If you accept the terms, click I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.
5.In the Destination Folder dialog box, click Next to install to the default folder, or click Change to select a different folder.
6.Click Install to begin the installation.
8.In the InstallShield Wizard Completed dialog box, click Finish.

Sanction is installed and ready to start for the first time.

9.Open Sanction by doing the following:
Click the Start menu, click All Programs, click LexisNexis CaseMap Suite, and then click LexisNexis Sanction 5.
Double-click the LexisNexis Sanction 5 software icon.
10.In the LexisNexis Sanction dialog box, select the Activate Sanction option.

If you choose to Run Sanction, you will be running an unregistered copy of Sanction for a 30-day trial period until activated.

10.Click the Continue button.
11.In the Sanction 5 Software Activation dialog box, click Next, to open the Enter your registration information dialog box.
12.In the Registration Name box, type your user name for license registration.
13.In the Registration ID box, type your registration ID.
14.In the Product ID box, type the Sanction license number.

You must be registered with LexisNexis as a valid user of this software to have this registration information. When you register with LexisNexis, you should receive this information via phone or email.

 

15.Click Next to continue.
16.In the Read the LexisNexis License Agreement dialog box, read the license agreement and then select the Yes, I will abide by the LexisNexis License Agreement check box, and then click Next.
17.In the How do you want to activate this product dialog box, select the activation option you want to use.
Activate software online — Use this option to activate online with an active internet connection.
Activate by web browser or phone — Use this option if you received an activation key via email.
18.Click Next.
19.In the Summary of online activation transmission information dialog box, review the license registration information.
20.Click Finish.
21.In the message box confirming Sanction 5 software activation, click OK.

The installation is complete. Sanction now automatically launches and you can begin using.
